Area 43 started in 1996 with a Drop-In Centre in Cardigan but now delivers a range of services across all of West Wales. Its principles remain the same … to deliver professional, safe, caring, non-discriminatory and non-judgmental high quality information, support and training services to all young people.

Our aims are:

  • To enable young people to develop self esteem and a positive approach to their lives and their place in society
  • To address and combat the problems facing all young people with particular regard to homelessness, unemployment, substance/alcohol misuse, crime prevention and prejudice, particularly for those who are socially, educationally, economically or geographically disadvantaged
  • To forge links and represent the needs and aspirations of young people within their communities
  • To co-operate with and share good practice and experience with the agencies (both statutory and non-statutory) who provide services for young people.

The Drop-In Centre for 16 – 25 yr olds is an active hub open 5 days a week with a vibrant information and support service and a very active Internet Café providing hot drinks and subsidised food and a range of activities which young people can participate in.

Area 43's extended services across West Wales including for example Counselling, Training, Mentoring and its Mobile and Outreach services are usually delivered through contracts with Local Authorities or other Government agencies, funded from Europe, or are sometimes commissioned by charitable trusts or other independent organisations.
